My Living View

about the photographer

Bio

I am thrilled to have this opportunity to explore my lifelong quiet love of photography.  As a teen, I used a Kodak Instamatic and an early model Polaroid.  Then, I moved on to a Fujica STX-1 SLR in the early 80’s.  With the price of film and developing, my hobby took an abrupt halt.  As a young newlywed, there was no money for film and developing. Life happens and now I am here!

In June 2016, life presented the opportunity for me to step away from my career of an elementary school teacher and become a photography student.  I’ve moved on and I haven’t looked back!  It has become my obsession to learn by reading, watching tutorials, and attending hands on workshops.

It is not uncommon to find me out on the country backroads, in search of interesting subjects to photograph. Exploring alone with my camera, looking for shapes and textures, has become my soul food.  I find immense joy, in my quiet thinking, of what I see in front of my lens.

While I don’t currently specialize in any specific genre, I want to dip into all of them.  I continue to learn and practice the technicality of each photography genre – lifestyle, family, childhood, landscape, pet.  Traveling to Jackson, Wyoming is my favorite spot for wildlife photography!

Currently, I shoot with the Canon 5D MIV and my favorite lens for wildlife is Canon Telephoto Zoom EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM. I absolutely love to create with various lenses such as the Lensbaby series of lenses! They are so unique and allow me to express my individuality that sets me apart from other photographers.

An attitude of gratitude on a daily basis helps me stay positive and find the good in all situations. Not taking a moment for granted, I am a true believer of what you put out into the world, will come back to you. So, why not put out the good stuff! You can count on me to be a loyal friend, for a lifetime, if you let me. Don’t lose my trust, or you will lose me! I take my margaritas on the rocks with salt, slightly on the strong side. My cabernet needs to be chilled to an optimum of 60 degrees. Country music and quiet time soothe my soul. I am forever a teacher advocate. I am Texas forever and a Wyoming lover! Blessed to have a wonderfully supportive family! I am excited to see where my photography journey takes me for years to come.
